Sunflower Senior Citizens met June 8 for a monthly potluck and meeting. Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber were hosts. Bob Unruh of Durham gave a presentation about his recent trip to Zimbabwe. Others who attended the meeting were Priscilla Unruh, Mary Clemmer, Tom Duggan, Magdalen Dvorak, Vernie Konecny, and Jane Vajnar.
Tom and Dee Duggan joined Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington and Joyce Cox of Abilene on June 8 at Great Plains Theater in Abilene for the production of “Man of La Mancha.”
Elmer Gooding of Tempe, Ariz., visited his sister, Lucille Kerbs on June 7 and took her out for dinner.
Leo and Sue Yonda, Steve and Sheri Spohn, and Georgia Spohn ate dinner out June 6.
The family of Frank and Anna Mae Stika took them out for dinner June 6 in Council Grove in celebration of their wedding anniversary. Others at the dinner were Lori Moldenhaur, Lisa Hanschu and Anna, Nikki Stenzel and her friend Mark, Ellie Miller, and Tien Antoszyk.
Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., visited Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant, and Cole. They attended Cole’s baseball game June 8.
Jane Vajnar visited Georgia Spohn on June 6.
Leona Keliber and Adeline Bernhardt ate dinner out and saw a movie June 6 in Salina in celebration of Adeline’s birthday.
Deb and Kaylee Hall of Herington and Dee Duggan attended a baby shower for Jennifer Schroeder on June 5 in the home of Esther Dillon.
Jane Vajnar went to Cottonwood Grove School on June 5. She met Cameron Kenagy of Bloomfield, Iowa, whom she had known through postcards for several years. His parents requested postcards for Cameron when he was a 13-year-old cancer patient and Jane responded. Cameron came to Kansas for the wedding of Rhonda Davis and Hiram Wedel. Rhonda’s parents, Roy and Nadine Davis, provided an opportunity for a face-to-face meeting.
Gary and Carole Spohn stayed the weekend with Ryan and Jaime Spohn in Lincoln, Neb., where they attended Lincoln’s farmers market and went to a sunken garden and a rose garden.
Tom Duggan attended a swim meet June 5 at Hillsboro. His granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, was a competitor.
Jane Vajnar was a dinner guest June 5 of Kathy Oborny and Diane Steiner. She also saw Dan and Kim Oborny, Ethan, and Logan as they made stops at the house between working in the field.
Women of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Tampa and Trinity Lutheran Church of Ramona ate out June 3. Those attending were Michele Berens, Addie Berens, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Lucille Kerbs, Betty Mueller, Edna Backhus, Gertie Moennich, Leola Neuschafer, Edna Mueller, Jennifer Jay, Ashton Smith, Sydney Smith, Joyce Medley, Becky Davis, Kathy Davis, Miriam Riddle, and Shirley Zaideman.
Ron and Rose Jirak invited those who attended Mass May 28 at Tampa to their home for breakfast after the service.
