Tampa residents will celebrate the city’s quasquicentennial Saturday with the theme “125 Years on the Trail.” Events get moving with the rut run at 7 a.m. Breakfast will be available from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the senior center. The parade starts at 10 a.m. from the church corner. Entries should arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. A tractor rodeo/show is scheduled for 11 a.m. Ladies will model wedding dresses at the senior center at 11:30 a.m. Centre High School FFA will serve lunch at the new park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Musical entertainment will be offered at the senior center in the afternoon featuring Alice Thomas at 2 and the Alex Stuchlik Polka Band at 3:30. Sisters of Hope will perform on the outdoor stage at 6 p.m. The first clue for the medallion hunt will be given after the parade. Duck soup ball games will be going on all day at the James Clemmer Memorial Ball Field. A 3-on-3 basketball tournament starts after the parade at the new park. A horseshoe tournament is set for 3 p.m., also at the new park; registration is at 2:30. Children’s games are at 4 p.m. Food and beverages will be available all day, along with craft vendors and old-fashioned photos. An information booth will be open. Tampa State Bank will begin serving its hog roast at 6 p.m., followed by a street dance featuring Justus. Prizes will be awarded for parade entries and the medallion hunt, and door prizes will be drawn throughout the day.

The city council has posted a reminder at the mailboxes regarding the importance of keeping dogs confined on quasquicentennial day. Of course, there is a city ordinance requiring dogs to be confined at all times, but it is particularly vital that the ordinance be obeyed on that day, because there will be horses in the parade and mules offering rides throughout the day. A loose dog could be in danger and pose a danger to others.
