Sunflower Senior Citizens met Jan. 8 at the senior center. The group enjoyed a meal of soup, veggies and desserts prepared by the officers.

Members and guests were then given a survey on the preferences for the group’s policies and activities. Plans were then made for 2013.

Those present included Raymond and Janet Bielefeld, Tom and Dee Duggan, Gary and Carole Spohn, Leo and Sue Yanda, Don and Ramona Beisel, Betty Mueller, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Phyllis Mueller, Edna Backhus, Tillie Hein, Georgia Spohn, Mary Clemmer, Connie McMahon, Kathy Kroupa, and Jane Vajnar.

The group is welcoming new members for 2013 — Phyllis Mueller, Edna Backhus, Kathy Kroupa, and Barbara Svoboda, although Barbara was unable to attend this particular meeting.

Don Witt, Donna, Bundy, and Leona Kleiber were evening visitors of Adeline Bernhardt on Jan. 8.

On Jan. 6, Russ and Julie Kerbs, Lucille Kerbs and Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney went to Hillsboro, where they met Rustyn Kerbs for dinner out.

Guests of Brad Backhus for dinner in Abilene were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Paul and Edna Backhus, Jason, Backhus, and Alisha Barney.

Jeanne Rziha visited her mother, Bonnie Haslouer on Jan. 5 at Enterprise Estates.

Lucille Kerbs visited her daughter, Connie Thompson, in Abilene Jan. 5.

Jeremy and Allison Sluder and Brooklyn met them for dinner out in celebration of Connie’s birthday.

Those helping Nikki Stenzel of Manhattan celebrate her birthday with a supper party at the home of her mother, Lori Moldenhauer, Jan. 4 were Mark Gilford of Manhattan, Greg Stenzel, Betty Stenzel, Frank and Anna Mae Stika, Jeanie Gaza, Luke Gaza, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna.

Linda Ihde visited Adeline Bernhardt on Jan. 5.

Cecilia Marie, Anthony and Daniel Rziha of Tulsa, Okla., Cecilia Rziha of Dallas, Texas, and Susie Rziha of Lincoln, Nebr., left for their homes on Jan. 5, after spending some time with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha.

Paul and Edna Backhus, Phyllis Mueller, and Rod Mueller attended a basketball game at Southeast of Saline on Jan. 4. Phyllis’ grandson, Tyler Heath was playing for SES, which defeated Minneapolis.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer stayed overnight Dec. 30 in Manhattan and took Nikki Stenzel out to eat for her birthday.
