Tampa shop sponsors coloring contest

Tampa Trail Stop is running contests for children. The April contest involves guessing the number of gummy bears in a jar. The first was a coloring contest in March. Winners were Cailey Barney, who was awarded a $5 gift certificate to the Trail Stop, and Isabel Rziha, who received a book. The book prize was one of five books donated to the store by Charles Stinchcomb of Russell, when he did a book signing there March 30.

Gary and Carole Spohn met her sister and husband, Bill and Kay Stanley of Minneapolis, at Hope April 3 for dinner out. Carla Hajek and her father, Mr. Barten, joined them.

The Shady Ladies and some of their husbands enjoyed dinner April 3 in Durham. Those present from Tampa were Tom and Dee Duggan, Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, and Ramona Beisel.

Lucille Kerbs was an Easter dinner guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Marchelle Kerbs of Salina. Other guests were Molly Kerbs and Ray Deiser of Salina, Kenneth and Pat Pierce of Augusta, Mark and April Reidy and Gracie, Josh Reidy, and Erik Reidy of Manhattan.

Adeline Bernhardt spent March 29 to April 1 with Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington. Clinton Hubbard of Wichita was a Saturday overnight and Sunday guest. Additional Easter dinner guests were Chris and Dee Anna Stout and Gabby and Donna Hubbard of Wellington. The group enjoyed watching March Madness basketball games on television.

Easter weekend guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha and David and Catarina Rziha, Isabel, Samuel, and Kathrine were Wayne Rziha, Cecilia Marie, Anthony, and Daniel of Tulsa, Okla.; John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, Thomas, Charles, Ann, and Henry of Atchison; Emilio and Janie Alta, Antonio, Sebastian, Raphael, and Mariana of Glen Carbon, Ill.; Susie Rziha of Lincoln, Neb.; Cecilia Rziha of Dallas, Texas; and Julie Rziha of Sabetha.

Easter dinner guests of Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion were Ron and Tammi Vinduska of Topeka; Dean and Becky Routh, Allison and Danielle of Augusta; Daniel and Melissa Stuchlik, Tanner and Allie of Pilsen; and Leona Kleiber. The children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt in the afternoon, followed by dessert.

Easter weekend guests of Tom and Dee Duggan were Darla Hall of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; Adam Hall of Springfield, Mo.; and Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington. They had an Easter dinner and Easter egg hunt on Saturday.

Anna Weber spent Easter morning with her grandfather, Frank Stika. Her grandmother, Anna Mae Stika met Nikki Stenzel of Manhattan and Lori Moldenhauer in Herington for church. Later, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu joined them at the Stika home for a carry-in dinner.

Easter dinner guests of Paul and Edna Backhus were Ron and Jody Heath and Tyler of Salina; Don and Ophelia Jacobson and Greg Jacobson of Hope; Bev and Tom Reid of Marion; Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro; Phyllis Mueller; Rod Mueller; and Brad Backhus. Additional afternoon and supper guests were John and Wanda Lewis, Paul, Sarah, and Luke of Anthony and Jason Backhus and Alisha Barney. Cody opened Easter gifts and hunted eggs.

Lucille Kerbs visited her daughter, Connie Thompson of Abilene, on March 30.

Tom and Dee Duggan met Joe and Kathy Cassell of Salina April 2 at a Salina restaurant for dinner. In earlier activities, they attended the Tri-County Telephone meeting March 26 and had an Easter dinner at the Hillsboro Senior Center on March 27. The Duggans met Everett and Rhea Kolling March 28 for an Easter dinner at Hilltop Community Center in Herington. In the afternoon, the Duggans were guests of Isabel Rziha for Blue Ribbon Day at Centre.

Tim and Amanda Baxa and Sophia of Wichita were March 29 dinner guests of Leona Kleiber.

Lucille Kerbs met Dorothy Ensz March 28 in Hillsboro for dinner. Later, they visited Mildred Steinle at Parkside Homes.

Community Easter egg hunt

At least 32 children participated March 30 in the community Easter egg hunt in the old park. Iona Dietrich and Melissa Stuchlik sponsor the event each year as their gift to the community, sometimes with a little help from other contributors.

Each child received a sack of goodies, and a boy and girl in each age group received a gift basket in a random drawing. Winners were: 0-2, Henry Rziha and Kathrine Rziha; 3-4, Sebastian Rziha and Bridget Gear; 5-7, Gus Jirak and Rachel Jirak; and 8 through 5th- grade, Blaise Jirak and Cailey Barney.
