Many phone calls for news this week connected only with an answering machine. Perhaps people were out enjoying what promised to be our last full day of good weather for some time.

Francis and Mary Jirak are the proud grandparents of Josephine Maria Jirak, born Jan. 18 to Albert and Theresa Jirak. Margaret Jirak is Josephine’s great-grandmother. The baby weighed 4 pounds 14 ounces and measured 17½ inches. She was welcomed into the world by three brothers, Blaise, Gabriel, and Augustine.

Julie Rziha left Wednesday for Washington, D.C., with a group of Benedictine College students to participate in the march for life, commemorating the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki enjoyed supper out Monday evening at Salina.

About 20 members of Knights of Columbus attended the organization’s annual dinner Sunday evening at Ramona.

Cindy Vinduska, Ruby Vinduska, and Lorraine Havlik, all of Marion, Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber enjoyed dinner Sunday at the café. After dinner, Cindy and Ruby went to Leona’s home and Lorraine to Adeline’s for an afternoon of visiting.

Leo and Sue Yanda, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn attended church Sunday in Marion and enjoyed dinner out.

Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki went to Manhattan Jan. 15. Lori helped Nikki settle into a dormitory room after Christmas break.

Dan Holub, Randy Dallke, and Jim Clemmer went to Topeka Jan. 14, to appeal to the Kansas Department of Transportation for state assistance of Marion County roads.
