News is a little scarce this week. Much of the week, it has been good weather for staying in by the fire. Our area warmed-up a lot this past week, and snow has melted.

Lynn Kleiber of Salina spent the day Tuesday with his mother, Leona Kleiber. He brought dinner and took down her Christmas decorations for her.

Tom Duggan went to the Herington Elementary School Tuesday morning to watch his granddaughter, Kaylee Hall’s, class participate in Hoops for Heart.

Prairie Pals met Tuesday evening at the home of Mary Clemmer with Lori Meyer assisting the host. Others in attendance were Iona Dietrich, Laveta Meyer, and Jane Vajnar. The group tested their knowledge of their home state with quizzes about Kansas.

Adeline Bernhardt visited Leona Kleiber Sunday afternoon and took her dinner.

Saturday evening supper guests of Leo and Sue Yanda were Steve and Sheri Spohn, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Georgia Spohn. The same group enjoyed dinner Sunday at the café.

Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan went to Junction City Saturday, where Kaylee played basketball. The Duggans and Kaylee went on to Hays, where they were overnight guests of Steve and Lisa Kite. On Sunday, they attended the Sup’rbowl featuring 14 kinds of soup. The event was a fund-raiser for the humane society.

Paul and Edna Backhus spent Wednesday through Friday in Hutchinson, attending the Kansas Water Well Association convention. Jason Backhus joined them Thursday.

Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer met Nikki Stenzel Thursday in Manhattan for supper out and shopping.

Family members helped Reuben Kerbs celebrate his birthday Jan. 13. Connie Thompson and Allison of Abilene came to the Kerbs’ home and brought pizza, which they enjoyed with birthday cake made by his wife, Lucille. Julie Kerbs stopped by after work. He received many cards and phone calls.
