Come to the Santa Fe Trail Fest Sunday. The event will include a hot dog meal, entertainment by Maurice Pritz and Friends, karaoke, hayrack rides, children’s games, cakewalk, and a medallion hunt with a prize. This year the festival will be downtown instead of the ball diamond. For those coming from out-of-town, the roads south and west of Tampa are now open — not perfect, but open.
The playground equipment in the park has been painted by volunteer work from Larry and Annette Sneary.
Prairie Pals met Tuesday evening in the church basement with Iona Dietrich and Melissa Stuchlik as hostesses. Melissa gave a lesson on mixing skin care products. Others present were Laveta Meyer, Jeanne Rziha, Lori Meyer, Mary Clemmer, Michele Berens and Eunice Steiner.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika attended a reunion of the descendants of Fred and Mary Schneider Sunday in Herington.
Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham of Florence in Hillsboro Monday. They attended the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College and enjoyed dinner out. Maynard Knepp presented a program about his involvement in mission work in Burundi, particularly the food for work program in which Africans are working to bring back the forests in their country and earning meat for their families.
Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas of Salina, Tim and Amanda Baxa of Kansas City, Dale and Andrea Klenda and Elijah of Pilsen, and Leona Kleiber enjoyed supper out Saturday evening in Lost Springs. Lynn, Peggy, and Nicholas were overnight guests of Leona. They and the Baxas also spent time with the Klendas during the weekend and stopped to visit Leona Sunday en route home.
The congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church enjoyed a potluck hamburger fry Sunday.
Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lisa Hanschu attended the wedding of Lisa Sader and Travis Allen Saturday evening in an outdoor setting near Roxbury.
Lori Moldenhauer spent the weekend with her daughter, Nikki Stenzel, in Manhattan and attended the Kansas State University football game.
Reuben and Lucille Kerbs joined other friends and relatives for a fish fry Thursday evening at the home of Gene and Charlotte Ruhl in Council Grove.
Tim and Amanda Baxa of Kansas City came to Leona Kleiber’s home Thursday evening and made supper for her.
