If you came to Tampa Sunday afternoon, you were no doubt hard-put to find a parking place. Tampa Senior Center was jammed with people, helping Tillie Hein celebrate her 100th birthday. Her children and grandchildren had the hall decorated with lovely autumn bouquets on the tables. Alex Stuchlik, Eugene Vinduska Sr., and Jerry and Heather Vinduska furnished polka music. Some of those attending, including the honoree, found enough room to dance.

Sunflower Senior Citizens enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner Tuesday at the café. A short business meeting followed the meal and card bingo at the senior center. Those present included Tom and Dee Duggan, Jim Clemmer, Frank Patton, Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, Magdalen Dvorak, Margaret Jirak, Shirley Zaideman, and Jane Vajnar.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Tuesday evening and attended the middle school basketball game between Abilene and Concordia. Their granddaughter, Taylor Thompson, played on the winning Abilene team. Doug and Connie Thompson and Allison also were there to cheer her on.

Tom and Dee Duggan took their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall of Herington, to Salina Sunday.

Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn enjoyed dinner Sunday at McPherson.

Reuben and Lucille Kerbs took their grandson, Rustyn Kerbs, to supper Friday evening at the café.

Tom Duggan attended a meeting Monday evening of the fire board.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League met Nov. 5 in the church basement with Edna Mueller as hostess. Pastor Clark Davis led the topic and Joyce Medley had opening and closing devotions. Others present were Kathy Davis, Cindy Bentz, Michele Berens, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Edna Backhus, and Phyllis Mueller.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a dinner meeting at Herington Thursday evening of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. The featured speaker was Everett Kolling, who spoke about railroad safety.

If the news seems “skimpy” this week, your correspondent found herself talking to a lot of answering machines who were not very informative.
