Many friends and relatives attended visitation and services July 26 and 27 for James Weber who died from injuries in a car-truck collision days after his 19th birthday. Hope’s United Methodist Women and Centre parents served a meal at the Ramona parish hall.
Cathy Rehmert, Allison Phillips, Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn, and Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney visited Lucille Kerbs on July 27.
Larry and Annette Sneary took Adeline Bernhardt and Leona Kleiber to Cottonwood Falls on July 28 as a belated birthday present for Adeline. They ate dinner and toured Chase County Courthouse included was a guided tour of the jail and courtroom. The group also visited Jim Bell western store, managed by Annette’s daughter. On the way home, they toured Tallgrass Prairie Preserve.
Ernie Kite of Bartlesville, Okla., visited Tom and Dee Duggan on July 28. Kaylee Hall of Herington, who had been spending a few days with her grandparents, went with Kite to stay with his family for a while.
Amanda Baxa was a supper guest July 27 of her grandmother, Leona Kleiber.
Lucille Kerbs dined at an Abilene restaurant July 26 with Connie Thompson and Allison.
Cecilia Rziha of Wichita, Julie Rziha of Atchison, and Will McMasters of Michigan came July 26 to spend a few days with Jerry and Jeanne Rziha. Julie will stay until school starts Aug. 23.
Darla Hall and Adam of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington were guests of Tom and Dee Duggan. They ate dinner and went to a movie July 25 in Salina to celebrate Darla’s and Dee’s birthdays. The Duggans took Adam to Salina again July 26 for basketball camp. He met several members of the University of Kansas basketball team.
Tony Young of Goessel visited his aunt, Lois Sklenar, July 25.
Lucille Kerbs and Connie Thompson attended a surprise 50th birthday party July 25 in Topeka for Jolene Weyand. Elmer Gooding made a video of Jolene’s life, and showed it at the party. Cecile Penney, Jolene’s mother, wrote a poem about her and had it framed, Jolene’s daughter, Stephanie, read it to her. The party was at a Topeka restaurant.
Jim and Mary Clemmer attended a fifth birthday party July 25 for their great-grandson, Seth Clemmer, at the home of his family, Shawn and Karin Clemmer and Blayke in Salina.
Paul and Edna Backhus attended the Kansas Water Well Association picnic July 25 and 26 at Marion Country Club. Bev and Tom Reid of Marion also attended. They were joined by Brad and Jason Backhus, Kelsie Penner, and Rod Mueller. Rod and Jason played golf. Jason’s team won and Rod’s placed third.
Leona Kleiber was a dinner guest July 24 of Andrea Klenda and Elijah.
Guests of Jerry and Jeanne Rziha on July 25 and 26 were Susie Rziha of Independence, David and Caterina Rziha, Isabel and Samuel, and John and Jeanne Rziha, Michael, Christopher, Joseph, Timothy, Thomas, Charles, and Anna of Atchison.
Taylor Thompson was an overnight guest July 21 of her grandmother, Lucille Kerbs. Elmer Gooding and his grandson, Carsten Faulkner, visited July 22. They all met Russ and Julie Kerbs for dinner. That evening they visited Doug and Connie Thompson, Taylor and Allison, in Abilene, and had dinner at a restaurant. Elmer and Carsten left July 23.
