Kristin Srajer of Omaha, Neb., came Thursday and stayed through the weekend, visiting Tillie Hein and Kris Srajer, Grant, and Cole. All of the Srajers went to a ball game Thursday evening at Manhattan.
The Shady Ladies chapter of the Red Hat Society met Wednesday for a potluck dinner at the home of Anita Hummel of Hope. Those who attended were Rhea Kolling, Rose Mary Deines, Phyllis Allen, and Barb Askew of Herington, Karolyn Schlesener, Allice Bell, Betty Schlesener, and Ramona Goracke of Hope, Dee Duggan, Ramona Beisel, Leona Kleiber, and Adeline Bernhardt. The women enjoyed a song fest in the afternoon.
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League met Wednesday evening. Pastor Clark Davis gave the topic. Cindy Bentz was hostess. Others in attendance were Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernahrdt, Joyce Medley, Michele Berens, Janet Bielefeld, Phyllis Mueller, Betty Mueller, Edna Mueller, and Edna Backhus. Installation of officers to serve in 2009 were Kathy Davis and Cindy Bentz, co-presidents; Leona Kleiber, secretary; Adeline Bernhardt, treasurer; and Joyce Medley, Christian growth.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a meeting of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees Thursday evening at Herington.
The Lions Club met at noon Thursday at the café.
A sizable crowd attended the community fun night Sunday at Tampa Senior Center.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a spelling bee Wednesday afternoon at Herington Elementary School. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, participated.

There was a gift exchange in the afternoon.
Jane Vajnar spent the weekend with Marc and Wendy Stroede of Kanopolis. She also saw Dan Stroede, Meghann Bunch, Iris, Shannon, Joseph, and Alexis, Jon and Wanda Sneath, and other old Carneiro friends who attended church there Sunday morning.
