YOUR TURN:   Teen center, city power

Brief comments may be sent to the Marion County Record, PO Box 278, Marion, e-mailed to editor@marionrecord.com, or brought to the office.

Many years ago, Marion had a teen center, furnished with a nickelodeon, marble games, and other games, refreshments, etc. After a few months it closed up. A few teen-agers came in on Saturday nights for a little while, then left. One country girl came in to wait for her parents to buy groceries so they could go home. Teen-ages then are like teen-agers today but instead of bicycles to ride they now have cars. They can drag main street or ride to neighboring cities for their fun. Give it a lot of thought before a lot of money is spent again for a teen center in Marion.

Hey, “City Dads,” why don’t you lay aside all your pipe dreams like the bicycle trail, movie theater, teen center, skating rink, community center, and other expensive projects and buy something Marion needs — a generator to keep everyone warm in the winter and cool in the summer, especially when the electricity is off for hours? Get with it, guys!
