Charlie and Stephanie Thies of Olathe announce the engagement of their daughter, Chelsee Diane Thies to James Bryson Penrod III, son of Jim and Patricia Penrod of Olathe.

Grandparents of the couple are former Marion resident Peggy Thies of Overland Park and the late W.M. Thies, and Patti Mullen of Wichita and the late Pat Mullen.

The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Olathe South High School. She is employed by Arbor Creek Tax Service of Olathe.

Her fiancé is a 1999 graduate of Heartland Christian Academy of Belton, Mo., and a graduate of Devry University of Kansas City, Mo., with a bachelor degree in network administration. He is employed by Script Pro of Shawnee Mission.

A wedding is planned July 18, at Country Club United Methodist at the Country Club Plaza, Kansas City, Mo. A reception will follow at the Carriage House Entertainment Center at the plaza.
