Thieves use debit card for purchases

At 10:30 a.m. Sept. 6, individuals used a debit card for unauthorized purchases in the 300 block of E Main Street, Marion. The loss was valued at $1,058, reported Marion Police Chief Josh Whitwell.

The owner of a business in the 1300 block of East Main Street, Marion, reported that an individual removed $5,651.87 in cash from the business while the person was an employee. The report was filed Sept. 9 and the offense took place in August.

At 10 p.m. Sept. 27, an individual reported an incident in the 700 block of North Cedar Street, Marion. Charges of aggravated assault, battery, and disorderly conduct were filed, reported Marion Police Officer Tyler Mermis.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., Sept. 27, an individual reported a burglary and criminal damage to property in the 400 block of East Santa Fe Street, Marion. Property loss was valued at $95. Officer Mermis investigated the incident.

At 3 p.m. Sept. 30, an individual reported damage to property in the 100 block of Ashley Drive, Marion. Officer Mermis reported the damage was estimated at $70.

At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1, an individual reported the theft of a purse and prescription drugs in the 400 block of East Santa Fe Street, Marion. The loss was valued at $66, reported Officer Mermis.

At 10:30 a.m. Oct. 4, an individual reported criminal damage to property in the 200 block of South Freeborn Street, Marion. Officer Mermis reported the damage estimate was $200.
