Residents in northwestern Marion County may have already noticed a delay in mail delivery.
Post Master of Hillsboro Post Office Becky Tibbetts said Salina’s mail distribution center was consolidated into the general mail facility in Wichita on April 18.
However, mail recipients should start noticing about a one-day delivery delay.
“We’ve already noticed it here in Hillsboro, but the consolidation will basically affect everyone north of Hillsboro on over to McPherson,” Tibbetts said. “The Wichita facility has more mail to sort now.
Durham, Tampa, Ramona, Canton, Galva, Lindsborg, Herington, Hope, and McPherson were some of the towns she said would likely notice delays.
When mailing materials to or from these areas, Tibbetts said people should plan mail to get to its destination about one day later.
