Vesta G. Stout, 68, of McPherson, died Oct. 26, 2008, at Sterling House of McPherson.

Born Oct. 7, 1940 at Hutchinson, she was the daughter of Leland LeRoy and Lillian Josephine “Jo” McGee Smyres.

On May 10, 1968, she married Richard Stout in Kansas City.

She was a retired teacher and taught math, physics, and algebra at Sterling High School.

She was a former Marion resident.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Leon Smyres.

Survivors include a brother, Ernest and wife Clarene Smyres of Windom; a sister, Linda and husband Mike Goodson of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepmother, Agatha Smyres of Inman; sister-in-law; Virginia Smyres of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, the Reverend Michael Marion presiding. Burial will be at a later date at Windom Cemetery.
