Viola Barker

Viola Fae Barker, 86, died Oct. 12 at Asbury Park in Newton.

Born May 26, 1923, in Newton to Robert and Edna (Johnson) Work, she was married Nov. 2, 1947, to Morris D. Barker in Wichita.

She worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Harvey County Courthouse in Newton, and Cargill Industries. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton.

Her parents, husband, and brother Allen Work preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Kendall of Newton; two daughters, Becky Davis and Penny Barker of Newton; a sister, Neva Banion of Wichita; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 102 E. Broadway St. in Newton. Burial will follow at the Hesston City Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the church in care of the funeral home.
