Virgil Clark

Former mail carrier Virgil E. Clark, 88, passed away March 11 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 27, 1926, at Wichita, Kansas. On July 3, 1945, he married Norma J. Wilbur. He served in the Navy in WWII. He was a crane operator and worked construction for Hoisting and Portable Engineers local union No. 101, then worked as a rural mail carrier for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by siblings Bobby Clark, Gerald Clark, and Dolores Blake.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Charles, of Burns, Thomas, of Florence, Janice McConnell, of Herford, Texas, Gail Topham, of Burns, and Alisa Holm-McDowell of Peabody; siblings, Don Clark of Mesa, Arizona; Virginia Waggy and Jean Knaussman, both of El Dorado, and Leslie Runnalls, of Newton; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services were to be today at Burns United Methodist Church, Burns, with interment in Pleasant Center Cemetery, rural Burns.

Memorials have been established for Burns United Methodist Church or Florence Christian Church.
