The Centre High School volleyball team tops the Eisenhower League after winning the league tournament Saturday at Solomon.

The 4-1 finish in the tournament put them past the .500 mark for the first time this year, with an overall record of 14-13.

In pool play, they defeated White City in two games, 25-21 and 25-19, and St. Xavier in two games, 25-19 and 25-13.

They lost to Wakefield in pool play, 18-25 and 22-25, but had a chance to play them again in the championship game, winning in two games, 25-21 and 25-20.

In the semifinal game, they defeated Elyria 25-12 and 25-20.

Winning the championship provided a big boost for the team as they prepare for the 1A regional volleyball tournament coming up Tuesday at Hartford.

Other participating teams will be Hartford, Madison, Marais des Cygnes Valley, Waverly, and White City.
