The Marion High School volleyball team just could not keep momentum on its side Saturday in Brookfield, losing each of its five matches in the Heart of America tournament.
The Warriors lost in three games in its first match against Moundridge, 25-21, 19-25, and 25-19. They then fell in two to Remington, Sedgwick, and Hutchinson Trinity.
The Warriors defeated Ell-Saline 26-24 in the first game of their last match, but then lost 25-23 and 25-14.
Head coach Deanna Thierolf said she was proud of her team’s resiliency.
“We played well for 10 out of the 12 sets,” she said. “Our girls play hard scrappy ball, we just aren’t very tall.”
The Warriors will play in sub-state action Saturday in Marion, hosting Council Grove, Gypsum-Southeast Saline, Halstead, Hesston, Lyons, Sedgwick, and Wabaunsee.
