W.J. McPheeters Jr.

W.J. “Bill” McPheeters Jr., 83, of Peabody, died April 16 at Newton Medical Center.

Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Peabody, to William John and Ella Augusta (Eberhard) McPheeters, he was a retired farmer and served in the U.S. Army

He married Vada Ann Truax Nov. 19, 1954, in Wichita.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Peabody.

His parents and a half brother, Kenneth Patchett, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Vada Ann of Peabody; a daughter, Pamela Carter of Peabody; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Peabody, with the Rev. Rodger Charles officiating.

There will be a private family burial.

Memorial funds have been established with the church, Prairie Lawn Avenue of Flags, and Peabody-Burns Alumni Association Scholarship Fund in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton KS 67114.
