W.O. Blair
W.O. Blair, 85, of Herington, died June 20 at Geary Community Hospital, Junction City.
Born May 30, 1925, in Dillon to Harry F. and Lana E. (Mosley) Blair, he served as a pharmacist’s mate third class with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a custodian at Centre High School until his retirement in 1989.
He moved to Herington from Lost Springs in 1996 and was caretaker of Lost Springs Cemetery for more than 15 years.
He married Mildred I. Friedli on May 9, 1949, at Herington. She died Jan. 18, 2004. His parents and a daughter, Cheryl Weathers, who died Feb. 23, 2002, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Gayle Makovec of Herington; a grandson, Robert Hanneman Jr. of Wichita; and two great-grandsons.
A graveside service with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ashton Cemetery, west of Hope on K-4.
