Walter C. Lake Jr.

Walter C. Lake Jr., 82, of McPherson, died May 13, 2009, at Memorial Hospital, McPherson.

Born Jan. 25, 1927, in Hope, he was the son of Walter C. Sr. and Myrtle (Baker) Lake.

On Sept. 7, 1947, he married Lois Winter in Lehigh. She survives.

He was a retired inspector, working at Beech Aircraft for 35 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bobbi Lake, Marvin Lake, and Lloyd Lake, and a sister, Elizabeth.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Rita Goben of Derby and Julie Lake of Flower Mound, Texas; a brother, Max Lake of Abilene; a sister, Elaine Smith of Arkansas City; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday morning at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson, with the Reverend Thomas Hallstrom officiating.

Burial was at McPherson Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with American Legion Post #24 Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
