Walter Woosley

Walter E. Woosley, 75, of Panama City, Fla., former resident of Herington, died Nov. 2 at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Panama City.

He was born Sept. 17, 1936 to Earl P. and Donna (Stover) Woosley in Herington.

Woosley worked for many years for Frisbie Construction. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958.

Services were held Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Wesely officiating. Military honors were given by a special funeral detail from McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy; a son, Earl Woosley; a daughter, Tammy Sue Lyons; two sisters: Sue Korgol and Sandra Quist; and his parents.

He is survived by three daughters: Teresa Diestelkamp, Debra Adams, and Katharin Ruth Woosley; three sons: Walter Woosley, Jr., Tim Woosley, and Michael Woosley; and a stepdaughter , Bobbie Jean. He is also survived by two sisters Marlene “Peggy” Bell, and Sharon Leohardt; a brother, Leo Woosley; and 22 grand-children.

The family requests memorials of the donor’s choice be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449.
