Wanita J. Goentzel, 81, died Dec. 20 at Salem Home, Hillsboro.

She was born Sept. 21, 1929, in Newton, to Johann and Helen (Goessen) Ewert. On Sept. 16, 1949, she married Vernon Goentzel. He preceded her in 2008.

She was a farmwife.

Survivors include a son, John of Marion; two daughters, Jocelyn Classen of Marion and Rose Mary Loewe of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Annette Stocklas of Las Cruces, N.M.; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion. 

Visitation with family will be 6 to 7 tonight at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Burial will be in Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, Hillsboro.

A memorial fund has been established with Salem Home Patient Fund in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St, Marion KS, 66861.
