Warriors are 'on the air' by video

Staff writer

Marion High School practice field was Anthony Allen and Cathy Carrier’s first stop Monday on a tour of Kansas football teams to gather clips for a music video.

The 102.1 Kissin Country morning show hosts filmed Marion High School football team’s afternoon practice. Video from of the practice will be spliced with clips from other area high schools, colleges, and even a team of third-graders from Andover.

The compilation of football clips will go into Kenny Chesney’s video for “Boys of the Fall” and be placed on kissin102.1.com. Allen and Carrier obtained rights from Chesney to use parts from the official video but are cutting pro-football footage and replacing it with the clips of local teams.

Allen and Carrier are looking for the complete package of action and atmospheric video. In other shoots they will also be focused on getting videos of crowds, cheerleaders, and pep rallie as well as action on the field.

Carrier said “Boys of the Fall” has a diverse fan base. When they announced that they planned to visit area schools, football moms were among the most outspoken advocates for their particular team to be included.

“You don’t have to play to get the feeling of the song,” Carrier said.

Allen and Carrier said they might return to Marion for the Warriors home opener Sept. 10 against Inman.

The reason Marion was chosen to be one of the schools in the video is because the Warrior faithful were some of the first listeners to suggest their school for the video, Carrier said.
