Marion High School volleyball team lost to No. 1 seed Burlington on Saturday in the second round of the Council Grove substate tournament, 14-25 and 15-25.
The Warriors ended the season with a record of 15-20.
Marion defeated Lyons in the first match, 25-20 and 25-23. Whitney Gordon shined for the Warriors. She scored 15 of the Warriors 50 points, including five aces, a back-row hit for a score, and two scoring blocks.
Gordon scored 10 points in the loss to the Wildcats with four blocks.
Although the Warriors ended the season with a losing record, the emergence of sophomore hitter Briana Hall, who had four kills against Lyons, and sophomore libero JayDee Schafers, as well as freshmen Katie Ehrlich and Megan Richmond is a promising sign for the future of the team.
