Warriors girls have older team

Staff writer

Peabody-Burns Warriors girls basketball team is older this year as only four new members join the squad.

The team also has five seniors, who coach Scott Bauer hopes will continue what last year’s three graduating seniors left behind.

“We have a big void to fill,” Bauer said. “I’m hoping they can fill that.”

Bauer also said all the seniors would see playing time.

“They all put in minutes last year on varsity and I’m looking forward to all of them contributing and understanding the role,” Bauer said. “Maybe some will be on defense, maybe some can add some energy to the court, but I’m looking forward to the seniors contributing this year.”

The team hasn’t had a game so far this year, however, Bauer has seen more energy from the team in practices.

“It’s been good,” coach Scott Bauer said. “I think we have more of a sense of urgency this year that I didn’t see until the end of last year over halfway through the season. It seems like we have a purpose, like we want to hustle and we want to do well.”

Peabody Warriors will play at home Friday against Herington Railers and Tuesday in Marion at Sports and Aquatic Center.
