Warriors receive six medals at Abilene

The Marion Warriors brought home six individual medals at their first cross-country meet in Abilene on Thursday. Coach Rebecca Hofer said she thought the entire team ran well despite of the heat.

“For many on our team it was their first cross country race ever, and that can be intimidating but they all survived,” Hofer said. “There was also tons of improvement from our returning runners compared to their 2012 Abilene finishes.”

The high school boys’ 5K results are as follows: Timothy Knolla, 10th, 19:57.1; Jared Hague, 21st, 21:40.5; Quinton Hett, 35th, 23:07.7; Seth Savage, 41st, 24:33.4; and Taylor Fahey, 44th, 25:06.1.

The high school girls’ 4K results were: McKenzee Remmers, 7th, 17:22.7; Brittany Hett, 39th, 23:00.0; Kaylie Waner, 2nd, 23:19.1; Shyla Harris, 42nd, 23:43.6; and Sarah Tajchman, 43rd, 23:53.1.
