Palic, Shults top list of 7 Marion state qualifiers

Marion wrestlers dominated the competition Saturday at the 321A regional tournament in Marion, winning the team championship and qualifying seven wrestlers for state.

Bryce Shults and Tyler Palic nabbed individual crowns, leading six Warriors who reached championship matches in their weight classes.

Marion ran away from the field by scoring 165 points, 67.5 points more than distant runner-up Chase County.

Marion will participate in the 321A state tournament Feb. 26-27 in Hays. The Warriors placed sixth at last year’s tournament.

126 lbs. — Jarrett Johnson, 2nd.

132 lbs. — Ezra Darnall, 2nd.

138 lbs. — Bryce Shults, 1st.

145 lbs. — Noah Albin, 3rd.

160 lbs. — Remington Putter, 2nd.

182 lbs. — Charlie Nordquist, 2nd.

195 lbs. — Tyler Palic, 1st.
