Waterways coming to Marion library

Marion economic development director Randy Collett spoke to Marion Kiwanis Tuesday at Cazadores Mexican Restaurant.

One guest and 21 members were present.

Speaking on behalf of the library board, Collett told members about the upcoming Waterways presentation.

Kansas was one of 11 states asked to participate in a Smithsonian Institute exhibition. Marion competed against other cities to be part of the program, being selected as a co-host site by the Kansas Humanities Council.

The exhibition tells the history of water in Marion in three stories: Chingawassa Springs, flooding in Marion, and Marion Reservoir.

“It has taken volunteers hours of their time to put this together,” Collett said. “We have created something we can archive and use at different times.”
