Wendell L. Gunter

Wendell L. Gunter, 73, of Woodbine died April 20, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Feb. 6, 1939, at the family farm near Woodbine to Milton W. and Margaret M. “Peggy” (Gugler) Gunter.

He graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1957. He was a farmer, carpenter, and volunteer firefighter.

He married Joann L. Gray on July 16, 1972, in Salina. She survives of the home.

He is also survived by a daughter, Jaime Stenstrom of Junction City; a son, David Gunter of Lenexa; a sister, Sharon Volkman of Woodbine; a brother, Charles Gunter of Hillsboro; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin Gunter.

A memorial service was Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating. The family received friends before the service.
