William Berry

William Rex “Bill” Berry II, 70, of Canon City, Colo., died Oct. 26, 2011, at Friendship House in Canon City.

He was born May 20, 1941, in Valley Center to Rex and Mardell (Danner) Berry.

Bill graduated from Valley Center High School, received a bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University, and received a master’s degree from Pittsburg State University.

He was a teacher for many years before going into school administration. He was the director of Manhattan Area Vocational Technical School in Manhattan from 1976 to 1996. When it became Manhattan Area Technical College, he became the college’s president until he retired in 1998.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Kim Berry Hodge of Ottawa and Trish Berry Robinson of Richardson, Texas; a brother, Tom Berry of Penrose, Colo.; a sister, Becky Summerville of Marion; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial celebration will be at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 26 at United Methodist Church in Valley Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fremont Regional Hospice at P.O. Box 246, Canon City, CO 81215, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Rocky Mountain North Chapter, 4104 Outlook Blvd., Bldg. B, Pueblo, CO 81008.
