William Weber

William “Kenneth” Weber, 94, of rural Burns, died April 18 at his home.

Born Sept. 30, 1915, on a farm west of Burns, he was the only child of Art and Gussie (McIntosh) Weber.

He was a lifelong resident of Burns, graduated from Burns High School, and served in the U.S. Army as Supply Stable Sergeant in the Cavalry, serving four years during World War II.

He was employed by Shawver Ranch near Rock, and later operated a dairy for Ernie Shawver in Wichita. In 1952, he returned to Burns to work with Lathrop Brothers Ranch and was estate manager of the I.N. Smith Trust. He was a member of Burns United Methodist Church.

He married Margaret Hutsell in 1942. She died July 19, 2006. A grandson, Clay, also preceded him.

Survivors include three sons, Pete of Hays, Scott of Peabody, and Mack of Burns; and two grandchildren.

Services were Friday afternoon at Burns United Methodist Church.

Cremation preceded services.

Memorial funds have been established with Hough Ear Institute and Hospice Care of Kansas in care of Carlson Funeral Home, 200 S Star St, El Dorado KS 67042.
