Wrestlers clean up at Halstead

It was an exceptional weekend for Marion High School wrestling as the team placed second among 16 teams with four Warriors winning their weight brackets at a Halstead tournament.

Scoring 162 points, the Warriors missed first to Douglass by 46 points.

Jarrett Johnson, Bryce Shults, Charlie Nordquist, and Tyler Palic all dominated to win their respective weight brackets.

At 132 pounds, Johnson received a bye, got a pin, and defeated semifinals and finals opponents 8-3 and 2-1.

Shults received a bye and pinned all of his opponents to win the 138-pound bracket.

At 182 pounds, Nordquist received a bye, pinned his quarterfinal opponent, won 7-3 in semifinals, and earned another pin in the finals.

Palic received a bye, and pinned all of his opponents to take first at 195 pounds.

Ethan Darnall, a 120-pounder, and 152-pounder Noah Albin each placed third in their respective brackets, and Jarrett McLinden placed fifth at 285-pounds.

Marion wrestles again Saturday in Eureka.
