Young people volunteer at Lincolnville

A group of young people from the local community recently provided landscaping services at Lincolnville Community Center.

The Lumberyard at Hillsboro donated much of the material.

Under the supervision of Anita Svoboda, the youngsters transplanted plants, laid plastic and landscape timbers, applied mulch and fertilizer, and planted bushes.

Those who participated were Barrett Smith, Jade Crable; Grace Peterson; Kate, Beca, and Ally Basore; Abigail Svoboda; and Kristin Vinduska.

When the work was done, Svoboda provided a lunch of hot dogs and watermelon.

“They sure worked up an appetite and did a wonderful job,” Svoboda said. “I can’t wait until next spring.”

Lincolnville City Council provided funds for the project. Thanks to The Lumberyard, Svoboda has money left over to apply to future projects.
