Youth advocate to speak at service

This year’s community worship service at Chingawassa Days will include a mentor of at-risk youth.

Earnest Alexander has traveled the world promoting Youth Horizons of Valley Center.

He will speak at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at USD 408 Performing Arts Center.

Through mentors and protégés, Youth Horizons matches boys and girls, ages 5 to 14, with Christian mentors who commit to spending one-on-one time with them.

Youth Horizons also operators Kinloch Price Boys Ranch, a group home for boys ages 10 to 18.

Youth Horizons attempts to “break the cycle of fatherlessness” through its programs.

Alexander, an accomplished vocalist as well as president of Youth Horizons, has performed at Carnegie Hall, Promise Keepers, National Convention of Southern Baptists, North American Christian Convention, and Quaker Worlds Conference.
