Sunny skies and a brisk wind Saturday morning drew more than 100 kids to Marion's Central Park for the annual Lions Club Easter egg hunt. Volunteers scattered 1,200 eggs throughout the park for the eager egg hunters. Toddlers were urged on by parents while older children took off at the sound of a whistle to collect the brightly colored, candy-filled eggs. Some were not so choosy, Katey Ehrlich was satisfied with one egg and three twigs. Her father, Mike, said "She likes to pick up sticks." Winners at the hunt who received $5 gift certificates were Jordan Harper, Isaac Baldwin, Austin Birk, Leona May, Derek Scheuerman, and Lance LeDoux.

EMS director JoAnn Knak was awarded a plaque Monday by Marion County Commission naming her outstanding director. Margie Taylor received recognition on behalf of EMS crews for using CPR to save the life of Lester Griffith, and Ron Mueller was named outstanding training director by Kansas Emergency Medical Service Association.

The Florence Chamber of Commerce annual Easter egg hunt was a success, organizers said Monday. More than 100 children participated in the hunt Saturday at Grandview Park. Several children found special prize eggs. These winners were Brayden Putter, Dusty Britton, Charlie Holub, Brandie LeRoy, Alysha O'Dell and Shelby Robinson.
