Marion County Commission Chairman Jack Brunner cut the ribbon Friday at the grand opening of the shower facility at Marion County Lake. Lake superintendent Dale Snelling, architect Dan Hall, Commissioner Linda Peterson, Commissioner Bob Hein, and subcontractor Quinn Trapp participated. A number of people attended to inspect the facility, which has showers, sinks, and toilets.

St. Luke Hospital's "Beary Special Babies" born during the month at the hospital and pictured in this week's issue include Courtney Dawn Williams, born April 3; Abigail Faith Fisher, April 14; Eric Jon Ensz, April 18; Wesley Allen Dicks, April 24; April Nicole Newfield, April 29; and Abigail Christina Svoboda, April 30.

Members of the Marion High School golf team are Audra Waner, Ashley Harbison, Jerel Mulvenon, Camille Wessel, Shannon Hoffer, Renee Reiswig, Scott Hannaford, Oliver Good, Jesse Branson, Jason Raper, Jack Branson, Ryan Thomas, Chris Byer, Blake Conyers, Andy Crofoot, Travis Moore, Mike Taylor, David Darrow, and Josh Bryant.

Marion Lions Club held its fourth annual car show Saturday in Central Park. Twenty-seven entries of various makes and models made this year's show the biggest yet. Richard and Mona Beeton of Wichita won Best of Show with a 1962 Chevrolet Chevy II.

Richard Schwartz, formerly of Marion and a native of Leavenworth, will be inducted into the Ottawa University sports Hall of Fame at a ceremony to be held May 16 on the campus at Ottawa. He received numerous awards, trophies, and seven athletic letters in football, basketball, and track in his collegiate athletic career. Retired from the Marine Corps, Schwartz and his wife reside in Tampa, Florida.
