If Mr. Chigger has been getting a little too intimate, just get a five cent cake of LifeBuoy Soap at Loveless & Sons and use in your bath. Then watch the results.

Marshal Scott had quite a little mix-up Saturday night with a drunken man whom he was trying to arrest. The fellow resisted the marshal with such force that Scott was compelled to use his club. One good whack satisfied the fellow that the marshal meant business and marched off quietly to jail. A man is a fool for getting drunk, and he is a bigger fool when he resists an officer.

Jacob E. Good and his bride arrived Saturday evening from old Canada, and have gone to housekeeping in the residence opposite the High School building. Mrs. Good was Miss Emma Mitchell of near Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and the couple were married June 14th. The RECORD extends congratulations to the happy young couple and welcomes Mrs. Good to her new home in Marion.

Jerry Forney is going to buy an automobile. We are glad of this, as it has been a source of considerable humiliation to us that, while all of our adjacent towns have been the proud possessor of one or more of these "devil wagons," Marion has been a little slow on automobiles.

Marion County farmers have about finished harvesting the best wheat and oats crops they have had for several years, and every indication points to a bouncing corn crop.

A car load of watermelons was shipped in here from Georgia Friday, and divided up among the different grocery stores.

Phil Zimmerman, who will leave next week to try "store keepin' on his own hook" out at Chase, had a very agreeable surprise last Tuesday evening. His Sunday school class of young ladies came to his home with ice cream and cake to spend the evening. Phil being a married man and his wife being one of the party, the young ladies brought a phonograph along to do the talking. Those in his class are: Clara Paddock, Viola Yost, Inez Ellis, Dora Holder, Mabel Taylor, Bertha Bitner, Alice Jones, Cora Swan, Merriam Bates and Mrs. Coffee.

A.T. Buford was in Newton the other day when the Georgia regiment of regulars were going through on their way to the Pacific coast where they were to take a steamer for the Philippines. Being an old soldier himself, Buford, of course, mingled with the boys and soon found out that there were five young men in the regiment whose fathers were in the same company with him in the Union army from Kentucky during the rebellion. They took dinner together, and maybe something else; anyhow they had a pleasant visit.
