Linda Graves, wife of Governor Bill Graves, is tentatively scheduled for Thursday visit to Marion Elementary School. Her arrival is expected sometime after noon. She will visit classrooms, and meet students.

The fourth birthday anniversary of Jordan Harper was celebrated at two separate parties held Jan. 18 and 20. The first party was attended by family members and friends at the home of her parents and the second was held at Burger King in Newton. Guests at this party were Kayla Williams, Emmali Kelsey, Tristen Snelling and Hayley Jirak. Melissa Carlson and Chassidy Carlson were unable to attend due to illness.

A come and go miscellaneous bridal shower was held Sunday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church to honor Nancy Carr, bride-elect of David Day. Hostesses were Randee Loomis, Barbara Abbott, Marge Christensen, Suzanne Thole, Bettie Batt, Phyllis Enos, Joan Winter and Margaret Hein.

Marion Boy Scout Troop 102 attended the 20th annual Trapper's Rendezvous Jan. 17-19 at Harvey County Park West. Among those attending from the troop were adults George Meisner, Terry Holt, Rick Branson, Doug Sharp, and Jim Grady; and scouts Ben Meisner, Andrew Brookens, Chad Ingals, Evan Sharp, Andy Holt, Sean Slattery, Chris Byer, Jack Branson, Kevin Grady, Ryan Grady and Matt Rhodes.

Marion High School faculty members have named senior Katie Barta-Moran as student of the month. She is the daughter of Mike Moran and Paula Barta or rural Marion.

Mark Rathert grew up in Marion, graduated from Marion High School, and learned about golf from dragging the sand "greens" at Marion Country Club. That was then. Now, he heads Rathert International Golf Design, and has designed some of the finest golf courses in the world.
