Hospitality is needed to welcome exchange students from Germany who will be visiting Marion April 5 to 11. Kym Smith is in charge of arranging host homes for the students. Those who have hosted students in the past say it is a rewarding experience.

At least 65 farmers/ranchers attended the first annual agricultural information meeting sponsored by Central National Bank and Farmers Union Insurance Agency of Marion. It took place Friday at Marion City Building.

Six restaurants in Marion County provided meals for heart-healthy tasting session Friday at Marion County Health Department. Turkey Red in Peabody took top honors with a chicken stir-fry. Stone City, Marion, was a close second with their chef salad with chicken. And, Town and Country's tasty and attractive fish fillet was next. Other restaurants participating were Chuck Wagon, Florence, Butch's Diner, Tampa, and Main Street Café, Durham.

A musical, " Lewis and Clark," will be presented Thursday at the Marion Elementary School gym. The sixth grade class will perform the story of the exploration of North America following the Louisiana Purchase.

Twenty-two Marion High School band members have been named to the Cottonwood Valley League honor band. They include Steffanie Smith, Margie Taylor, Jenny Lundgren, Amy Helmer, Andy Albrecht, Amanda Fruechting, Shannon Hoffer, Jenny Christiansen Camille Wessel, Nicole Taylor, Andy Methvin, Merissa Riggs, Josh Powers, Robert Conyers, Daniel Bryant, Keith Goentzel, Jesse Versch, Trevor Smith, Michelle Wessel, David Darrow, Maria Voelker, and Christen Tajchman.
