All that remained Sunday of the Gino Salerno sculpture in Central Park were the feet after vandals sawed off the wooden figure. The Marion City Commission, on Monday, offered a $500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who stole the wooden statue. The figure was recovered Tuesday near a creek in the vicinity of Centre High School between Lincolnville and Lost Springs.

The team sponsored by Western Associates of Marion won the five man team event recently at the 58th championship event of the Newton Bowling Association. Team members are Jeff Summers, Larry Summers, Al Wynn, Leroy Roberts, and Gary Williams.

Marion students Hallie Bennett and Emily Costello were among 350 from across the state who had the opportunity to learn about government during the Kansas Farm Bureau sponsored Capitol Experience March 12-14 in Topeka.

Meteorologist Mark Larson of KWCH-TV Channel 12, Wichita, visited Centre Elementary School March 19. He began his presentation by telling how he decided to become a weatherman and gave them some advice for their own future.

Marion High School drama students Medea Fowler, James Grady, Heather Holub, Guilherme Santos, Nicolas Thornbro, Stacie Hasenbank, Curtis Gore, and Dusty Sharp participated in a valentine/wedding celebration with residents of St. Luke Living Center.

Roger W. "Bud" Hannaford of Marion has been re-appointed to the Abstracter's Board of Examiners by Gov. Bill Graves.

Jim and Amy Doherty and Chase are new residents of Stone Haven Bed and Breakfast in Florence. The stately facility will continue to offer overnight lodging, as well as host special events in the large parlor. The Dohertys have purchased Stone Haven from Doug and Linda Eshelman, who converted the old school into a majestic home.
