A former Marion resident created the winning cheerful blue-and-yellow design which will be featured on Chingawassa Days commemorative buttons. Carla (Jost) Colburn of Longmont, Colo., submitted the drawing to the Chingawassa Days committee.

Three former Marionites recently converged on Kensington, Md., and were entertained at the home of Anna Lou (Hoch) Pfautz, also formerly of Marion. Pfautz's guests were Nancy (Colburn) Seed of Santa Barbara, Calif., Mary Lou (Williams) Hammontree of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Florence Irene (King) Gimson of Decatur, Ga.

The following births are announced in this issue: Jeremy Alan, son of Jeff and Jill Burkholder of Marion; Megan LeighAnn, daughter of Jason and Kathie Carr of Hillsboro; Hailey Elizabeth, daughter of David and Beth Watson of Marion; Hailey Mae, daughter of Chris and Sherri Webb of Olathe; Caleb Robert, son of Robert and Donna Ecklund of Lexington, Neb.; and Hali Elizabeth, daughter of Doug and Tammy Krause of Hillsboro.

Norman and Vivian Mueller left March 24 for Cottonwood, Ariz., for a reunion with her brothers and their wives at the Willow Tree Inn. The group spent five days together enjoying visiting and various events.

Florence Women's Christian Temperance Union has awarded prizes in the annual essay contest. First prize went to Amanda Fruechting, second prize to Ashley DeForest, and third prize to Sarah Goodin.

Gabriele Schroder, a German educator, recently spent two weeks in Marion County as part of a six-week visit to the United States. While in Marion County, she stayed with Steve and Phoebe Janzen in Marion.

Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall, a native of Marion, is one of two attorneys general in the nation who have been asked to testify before the U.S. Senate. She will address the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of an amendment to the Constitution which would provide rights to victims of crime.
