Renowned stunt flyer Susan Dacy will headline the Chingawassa Days air show at Marion Airport. Dacy will perform a variety of rolls, turns, and loops in a customized Stearman biplane during the June 21 air show.

Time, the weekly news magazine, is sending a crew of reporters and photographers to Marion County report on "The Backbone of America." Journalists from the popular magazine will cross the country by special bus in an effort to define the modern American Dream. The 30-day trip will follow U.S.-50 across the nation, crossing Marion County through the towns of Florence and Peabody.

Centre High School senior Nikki Bina has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Independence Community College for the 1997-1998 season.

Students of Anita Hancock will perform Sunday in recital at Marion Municipal Auditorium. Students include Jessica Bernhardt, Nick and Carla Carlson, Nicole Bodiford, Tiffany Church, Kelsey Craig, Sarah Goodin, Isaac Guetersloh, Katrina Hancock, Patrick and Paul Hodson, Laura Holt, Stephanie Jacobson, Ben Leppke, Sarah Lowry Allison Meador, Amber Moore, Molly Rhodes, Caitlin Reimer, Amber Richmond, Misti Richmond, Emily Svoboda, Emalee Versch, Megan and Katie Whitaker, Sarah and Stacia Williams, and Krista and Sara Zogelman.

Eric L. Soyez of Marion has enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He is the son of Rich Soyez and Pam Hamm of Marion. Soyez reports to Great Lakes Naval Training Station near Chicago this month. Upon completion of basic training, Soyez will report to school at Pensacola, Fla., for advanced training.

Jennifer Nowak of Pilsen has been named Outstanding Physical Education Major of the Year at Fort Hays State University. Nowak is a graduate student in the study of gerontology. She will graduate in July with a master's degree in exercise science.
