Will Meysing, former Marion County resident and a successful professional businessman at Portland, Ore., appeared before the Marion City Commission Monday afternoon to share his concern about preserving Billings Park, the site of one of the first settlements in the community.

Visitors toured the refurbished courtroom Friday during an open house at Marion County Courthouse The courtroom is the most obvious of the extensive renovations just completed in the courthouse.

A car show, garage sales, and other activities are planned for Saturday in Marion. The events are part of Spring Fling, sponsored by the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

Members of the 1972 class, Marion High School, will observe their 25th anniversary reunion during the Old Settlers' Day weekend, Sept. 26-28.

Marion High School junior Heather Holub has been selected as student of the month by the MHS faculty. She is the daughter of Dan and Rhonda Holub of rural Marion.

The 1996-1997 bowling season at MarBowl Lanes at Marion has just been completed. Final overall standings for the season finds the Webster Auto Service team in first place. Barry Allen is the top individual bowler. His high game was 728 including handicap. Scratch honors go to Danny Rudolph with 645. High average for the season goes to Danny Rudolph with 186.

Marion High School junior Jerod Hett will participate in a 16-day tour of Europe this summer. He is one of 60 high school track and field athletes selected for the trip. Hett is the son of Eldon and Rhonda Hett of Marion.
