Wheat harvest '94 is neither a bumper crop nor a poor one, perhaps bountiful. Marion's Cooperative Grain and Supply reported Mick Summervill brought in the first load at 3.06 p.m. Monday. Weather prospects are good with high temperatures and strong winds which helped to dry the grain.

More than 300 bicyclists are expected to arrive in Marion today, Wednesday for an evening meal, overnight stay, and breakfast as they travel from the Colorado border to Linn County Park.

Irvin and Tudy Brunner of Ramona announce the engagement of their daughter, Paige Kay, to Michael Robert Schneider, son of Lonnie and Jeanie Schneider of Herington. The wedding is planned for Aug. 10 at St. John's Catholic Church, Herington.

Rebecca Collett, Mandy Inlow, and Kay Lynn Summervill represented Marion High School at Girls' State, held June 5-11 on the campus of the University of Kansas, Lawrence.

A miscellaneous bridal shower for Sydney Orr, bride-elect of Jim Costello, was held June 12 at the American Legion hall in Tampa. Hostesses were Helen Costello, Mary Costello, Catherine Hajek, and Gertrude Patton.

James and Bernice Beach, owners of HRK Warehouse in Marion, have purchased the Marion Mini-Mall. The mini-mall currently is home to a military surplus shop, Marion Cable TV, a used clothing store, and several crafts shops.

After 32 years, Charles Schmidtberger has retired from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. He was a supervisor over 13 counties for 10 of those years.
