Residents of Marion and surrounding community gave 60 units of blood at the recent Red Cross Bloodmobile visit. Donors receiving pins were Patti Thomas, 1 gallon; Marcia Vogel and Stacey Long 2 gallons; Rodney Richmond, 3 gallons; Kathy Lunderman and Perry Steiner, 4 gallons. First time donors were Frank Werner, Amber Gayle, Ronda Shipman, Tamara Stephens, and Monica Parscal.

The Marion High School class of 1927 will celebrate the 67th anniversary of their graduation on Sept. 10. All class members are invited to meet at 12 noon in the Stone City Café banquet room for dinner and to enjoy good fellowship.

This week's entry in the Marion County Record's annual Produce Derby is by Luke Bowers, son of Greg and Mary Beth Bowers of rural Marion. Luke is proud of the tomatoes from his garden. The ones he displayed were each two pounders.

An original recipe by Diana Costello of Marion is featured in the seventh edition of A Taste of Country. Costello's recipe for chicken barley soup appears on page nine of the cookbook.
