The Chronic Disease Reduction Coalition, made up of people from across the county, a special committee of Marion County Health Department, has selected Debbi Darrow of Marion as the November "Adult Role Model" to serve as an example for youth to emulate. Darrow is a respected professional Early Childhood Development Special Education teacher.

Congressman Jerry Moran, who represents the huge First District of Kansas in the House of Representatives at Washington, D.C., will be the featured speaker for this year's annual Farm-City Steak Feed.

Katrina Hancock of Marion is playing for the Bradley University women's basketball team. Hancock is a 6-2 junior center who transferred to Bradley from Wichita State University. She is the daughter of Anita Hancock who teaches at Marion Elementary School.

Ray Vinduska, 82, retired Marion postmaster, died Nov. 5 at St. Luke Hospital.

Eric Carlson, son of Ronnie and Susan Carlson of Lincolnville, has been selected as this year's Centre High School winner of the Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation leadership seminar. Janie Rziha, daughter of Gerald and Jean Rziha of Tampa is the first alternate HOBY representative.

Kay Lynn Summervill of Marion was one of several students at Kansas State University who had the opportunity to spend the summer in Mexico. The students took advantage of the opportunity to perfect their Spanish and to learn more about Mexican culture and social customs. KayLynn is the daughter of Mick and Marge Summervill of Marion.

The Rev. John Yates was installed Sunday as the new minister of Marion Christian Church.
