Lightly regarded before the season, the Marion High School football team is now one of only two Class 3A schools still playing football in Kansas. Friday they ripped apart Wellsville 41-6. The Warriors have outscored their opponents 400-92 this season, with five shutouts. In six district and playoff games, they have outscored opponents 253-18. They play at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hays.

The crowd surged forward Saturday for the annual Turkey Daze turkey toss. Hundreds of paper plates designed as coupons good at local businesses were sent flying from the roof of Marion True Value Hardware. Marion Chamber of Commerce also sponsored activities to keep children occupied while parents shopped.

Lori Laubhan and Chuck McLinden were married Oct. 1 at the Marion Christian Church. Dr. David Branson officiated at the 2 p.m. double ring ceremony.

Twelve Marion High School students were inducted recently into the National Honor Society. They are Jodi Bernhardt, Austin Gilbert, Eliza Bennett, Amanda Hanson, Jennifer Maggard, Kathryn Vantuyl, Josh Cooper, Katie Barta-Moran, Christopher Bowers, Gabrielle Longhofer, Aaron Reiswig and Lisa Zogelman.

Clover Cliff Ranch near Elmdale, which has been restored by Jim and Joan Donahue, will be one of four historic sites included on this year's annual Chase County Christmas Tour. Other stops on the tour will be Spring Hill (Z-Bar) Ranch south of Strong City, Camp Wood near Elmdale, and the Chase County Courthouse in Cottonwood Falls.
