Marion Unified School District Technology director Mark Janzen presented information to the city commission Monday on a proposed wide area computer network linking district building in Marion with other schools in the Technology Excellence in Education consortium.

Volunteers with Marion County Kansans for Life installed a billboard Saturday on the Greg and Mary Beth Bowers' farm, just off U.S.56-77 north of Marion.

Debbie and Doug Regier of Peabody, Don Mueller of Tampa, and Norman Epp of Hillsboro represented Marion County at the Kansas Farm Bureau's 77th annual meeting Nov. 16-18 in Wichita.

Beaston's Market, Marion's only downtown food store, will go out of business Dec. 29, according to owner Thad Meierhoff. The store has been in business 92 years. Meierhoff purchased it from Jack Beaston in July of 1994.

Students from Centre Unified School District traveled by bus to Topeka last week to view the Czars exhibition. The trip was made possible by a $500 grant from Tampa State Bank.

Several members of the Marion High School debate squad earned rankings Thursday at the Halstead tournament. Jamie Davis was ranked No. 1 speaker, Heather Holub ranked No. 2 speaker, and Joey Smallwood won his Maverick round and was ranked No. 1 speaker.

A miscellaneous bridal shower was held Saturday in the Jim Darrow home complimenting Sherry Lange whose marriage will be an event of Jan. 6. Hostesses were Kaye Darrow, Beverly Jirak, Ruth Herbel, and Carolyn Moore.
